Diagnosis

Rhythmology consultation

For heart rhythm disorders, the earlier the diagnosis, the better the outcome. We at Cardiopuls also like to add “thorough” to the equation. During the consultation, we discuss and examine your complaints and concerns in great detail. Once we have a firm grasp of your current needs and past medical history, we help you decide on the best treatment option.

Atrial fibrillation consultation

Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia in which the heart beats very irregularly. It is also an important risk factor for blood clots and strokes. During the consultation, we discuss which symptoms you are experiencing - e.g. dizziness, palpitations or shortness of breath - and whether and how they need to be treated, be it with drug therapy or ablation.

ECG and long-term ECG

Electrocardiogram, or ECG for short, records heart activity through 1-3 small electrode patches that we place on your chest and connect to a portable monitor. This way, we receive stable and accurate ECG reading for up to 30 days as you go about your daily routine to accurately assess for arrhythmic disorders and recommend the right treatment strategy for you.

Pacemaker and ICD control

A small device with a big impact on heart health, pacemakers must be checked regularly to evaluate remaining battery life, electrode function, stimulation frequency, programming and performance. The same applies to implantable defibrillators (ICD). The checkup involves no discomfort or preparation other than bringing your device identification card with you.

Echocardiography

Echocardiography, or simply echo, is an ultrasound scan that shows us the blood flow through your heart valves. In other words, how well your heart is doing its job – and if it needs any extra support to do better. It also allows us to check the size of the heart chambers and the thickness of heart muscles and find problem areas that might cause abnormal heart rhythm.

Ergometry

Also called stress test or exercise ECG, ergometry measures how well your heart performs under pressure. That is, during physical activity. While you are pedalling on a stationary bike, we closely monitor your heart rate, blood pressure and electrical signals to detect if you have irregular heartbeat and when it occurs as well as check for signs of coronary artery disease.

24-hour blood pressure monitoring

A one-off high reading can be a sign of hypertension – or that of white coat syndrome, a condition many people develop when in the doctor’s office and miraculously recover from once they leave. To make sure the diagnosis is right, we will fit you with a small recording device and an arm band to take automatic readings as you sleep, work and play.

Wearables and tele-monitoring

Modern technologies allow us to take care of you and your heart rhythm even when you are not in our office. Portable ECG and ambulatory blood pressure monitors, pacemakers and implanted defibrillators provide us with heart health data so we can provide you with optimal care and prevent emergencies without causing pain or inconvenience.

About

Expert rhythmology care in the heart of Switzerland.

With a combined total of over 10,000 successful procedures, we can offer electrophysiology knowledge and cardiac therapy experience, from which patients with all kinds of arrhythmia can benefit – over 20,000 already have. Most of them, we treated as co-chief physicians at one of the leading electrophysiology departments in Switzerland.
This track record has earned us the trust of premier medical technology developers, allowing us to deliver the latest evidence-based heart rhythm disorder treatments before anyone else. This is how Cardiopuls Medical Centre came to be.

We believe that quality cardiology care rests on two pillars: people-centered thinking and access to proven technology innovations.

We also believe in our ability to provide both. Get to know us or schedule an appointment to discuss your questions and concerns.

Prof. Dr. Richard Kobza

Specialist in internal medicine and cardiology FMH
Prior to founding Cardiopuls Medical Center, Prof. Dr. Richard Kobza served as Chief of Cardiology and Head of Electrophysiology at Lucerne Cantonal Hospital (LUKS) in Switzerland. During his tenure at LUKS, he established one of the largest electrophysiology departments in the country. His clinical focus includes the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, in particular catheter ablation and the implantation of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD).
